Ohio Companies Host Cleveland Coatings Event: The "Big 10-4"

Cleveland, OH—Cleveland, a long-time hub of activity in the paint and coatings field will play host to a one-day regional coatings event that's being dubbed "The Big 10-4" since it's being held on October 4th, 2005.

Eighteen finishing industry suppliers have signed on as sponsors and will offer technical presentations on a wide range of paint-related topics including; powder coating, liquid paints, UV curing, plasma pretreatment, robotics, automation, web based control and a number of other subjects.

"We wanted to create an event that people could drive to, and that was very inexpensive. They will get great information on some of the latest paint related topics from companies doing business in our area" said event organizer Paul Mills.

The event being hosted at the Quality Inn and Suites in Middleburg Heights will feature two concurrent sessions totaling eighteen papers. Attendees will also be treated to a hands-on laboratory visit where a wide range of equipment will be demonstrated. The lab session will be held in the Artomation applications laboratory located only minutes from the conference site. Luxury coach transportation to the nearby Artomation coatings laboratory will be provided to all attendees.

"Our laboratory will allow attendees to see some of the technology in action that will be presented in the technical sessions" said Artomation president John McDonough. "We have powder and liquid booths, robots, UV lamps and a number of other equipment demonstrations ready," McDonough added.

The list of companies involved in the conference and lab session include: AP Conveyor, Fanuc Robotics, Q-Panel, BYK Gardner, Nordson powder and liquid systems, UV Robotics, Magic Rack, PlasmaTreat North America, Phoseon Technology, Control Systems Group, Kalcor Coatings, and Chemical Methods, Inc., Artomation, IST UV, Sherwin Williams, Dupont Powder Coatings, and Decorative Veneer UV.

A web site detailing the event including registration information has been setup at www.clevelandcoatings.com

"Larger, national finishing shows have their role in providing a place for large exhibitions and multi-day programs" says Mills "but many of the sponsors and the attendees like the idea of a conference that features local suppliers and doesn't require the same investment of time and money to attend. Fortunately for us, there aren't many cities in the country besides Cleveland where you can find the number and quality of paint and equipment manufacturers so nearby."

The venue was selected because it's easy to get to, (located just minutes from Cleveland Hopkins airport, the Ohio Turnpike Exit 161 and Interstate 71) and only a two-minute bus trip to the Artomation coatings laboratory.
